I just can’t wait! I was going to wait until Monday to post this…. but I just couldn’t! It’s just too much fun and excitement to keep contained to the weekend! Here it is right off the presses….. uhh ….. celluloid? …. digital memory?
Thanks so much to Mrs. Sonam for all your help and for reading “A Spy in the Attic” for us! It has been wonderful to have parents come in and work with grade 3 in developing reading comprehension. We have now finished two books so far and will be moving on to another next week when Mrs. Christel will be reading with us. The students have said that they really enjoy having Mom’s and Dad’s come in and read during class! If you are interested in becoming a Parent Volunteer please let me know and we will find a time that is convenient for you =)
Also, big thanks to all parents who came out for our Open House today! It was wonderful having you be apart of our class!
Also, check out the new Creative Public Speaking videos!
Well, that’s it! We have finally recovered our floor and finished our community models! The kids did a great job! Their creativity never ceases to inspire me! We have communities with Zoos, Airports, Police Stations, Apartments and all the little things we need like the giant beetle fighting ring in the entertainment section =)
Lots of glue, tape and smiles make for a fun and lively learning experice! Thanks to al l the parents that sent in stuff and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Now, that we have more than enough junk! =) Today we bagan work on our community models! The class was broken up into teams and given a specific feature of a community to model.
The areas were; Government, Entertainment, Services and Community Living. The kids got right to work and began transforming my classroom in to a working garbage dump!
It was great fun watch how they groups worked together and began dividing up the work load. The ideas were flowing and it was great to see the foundation of the models set.
We had a wonderful reading time with 3A and Mrs. Mini today! After hearing about the adventures of Tim as the Upside-down reader I think I’ll appreciate being able to sit down right side up and read a good book =) The story was fun and engaging with lots of things to think and reflect on. Again, it’s wonderful to have parents come in and read with the class. If you are interested please click on the Parent Volunteers page for more information as to how you can get involved!
We are just about to wrap up learning about communities in Social Studies, and for our final project we will be making a 3D model of a community. This will be completed as a team for cooperative learning.
That being said, we need some junk! ***Things like plastic bottles, cardboard, clay or play-doh, newspapers, and small random items that can be used.
We will be creating these impressive works of art this coming Monday, September 7th. =)
